Deployment Frequency

The rate at which an organization successfully deploys changes to production or an equivalent user-facing environment.

What it measures

Deployment Frequency counts successful production deployments over a defined period. It is a delivery-throughput signal, not a direct measure of customer value or developer productivity.

Use a stable definition of deployment, exclude retries or no-op events, and interpret frequency alongside change size, lead time, failure rate, and product outcomes. Batch-oriented, regulated, embedded, and continuously delivered systems may have legitimately different patterns.
