Sprint

A fixed-length iteration in which a team pursues a selected goal and delivers a usable increment of work.

Sprint

A sprint is a fixed-length delivery iteration, commonly one or two weeks, in which a team works toward a clear sprint goal and produces a usable increment.

What it includes

A sprint normally has a goal, a selected set of backlog items, implementation and validation work, and a review of the resulting increment. Teams also inspect how they worked and adapt their process.

Common mistakes

  • Treating a sprint as a deadline container instead of a feedback cycle.
  • Filling it to maximum capacity without protecting the sprint goal.
  • Carrying unfinished work forward without learning why it was not completed.
